Going To A Blueberries Picking with Kai Kai's School Friends

This summer, I enroll Kai Kai for 3 classes in his Montessori school. Each classes is only for 10 days. The first class was all about Farm. It happen that Kai Kai's school neighbour is a farm house, so almost everyday, the teacher will take them to see one aspect about farm. For example, they took the kids to the corn field, there they learn to differentiate between "female" flowers and the "male" flowers. Next time, they saw the animals like donkeys, sheeps, cows, chickens, bunnies, dogs, horses etc. Then they learn how to make butter on their own by taking turn shaking a bottle of milk into butter that they will enjoy together with the bread that the teacher baked for them right in the school. On the last day, they went to pick raspberries from the farm and together they made raspberries jam that they can take home.

On the second class, it's all about nature. Again, it happen that the school is just next to a trail where they have so many blackberries bushes grow wild there. The teacher ( different teacher this time ) let them pick those wild blackberries and let them eat them right there. Some are sweet and some are so sour. They learn on how to pick the sweet one. They also took some tadpoles from the creek and see how they grow into small frogs. Kai Kai loves them very much. And today at the last day of the third class, they release those frogs back to the creek

The reason why I enroll Kai Kai to those 2 classes is obvious. My son loves nature very much and he absolutely enjoy those 2 classes.

On the third class, it's all about Kids in Kitchen. They learn all about food, eating healthy, and preparing their own meal. On the first day, he learns how to cook Miso Soup and eat it with salad and bread together with his friends. Next time, he made pizza. Then he made jello too. He learn to cook so many dishes every day that when he came home, I don't even need to feed him anymore because he is already full from the food that he and his friends cook together or prepare together.

On the last day of his third class, we all went to an organic blueberry farm. The teacher already did some research on which farm is perfect for little children to wandering around on their own and on this particular farm. I think it's now a commercial, more like a family own private farm because they are much smaller and they are fenced so the kids will not get lost. Since this is privately owned, they really care about the quality, that's why they are organic. If that's is not fun enough, while those kids picked their blueberries, some chickens are walking around there too. So between picking the blueberries and chasing chickens those kids are in heaven! That place also have an organic vegetable garden. The kids learn about veggies and herbs a lot in there, but my son pretty much knows them all since I have herbs garden of my own here too. So when they were asked to identify the names of the herbs, my son can answer them all. He loves smelling the mint.

At the end when it's time to pay, the grandmom who owned the farm pretty much gives us a big discout. It doesn't matter how much blueberries you pick in a basket that she lend to the kids and even the parents, it's all only cost a dollar for each basket. That was nice of her.... a basket of organic blueberries for a dollar.

First Time To Go To A Crusade

First thing I have to tell you is that my mom is a big fan of Benny Hinn. She loves him so much that she kept telling us to go to one of his crusade if he happens to come by to Vancouver. And last week, he did show up here for a crusade. The last time he was here was 15 years ago.

I wasn't sure at first if Kai Kai can stand to be there for a long time and plus, he hates noisy and I know it's going to be very noisy there.

We arrived there exactly at 7 PM when they start. I guess we were way too late because all the seats at the floor and the balcony were full! We did get our seats but we sat at the very high balcony that we can't even see Benny Hinn at all if not without my camera's help.

I am not sure what I expected or what Richard expected but I do feel good to be able to praise God together with so many people. What's amazing was that, so many of the people are from outside Vancouver. Some of them are from other states and really a lot of them are from the US. In fact in the parking lot, the car on our left side has Oregon licence and the one on the right side is from Washington. And most of the people already waiting on their seats since 4 PM! No wonder we almost didn't get seats.

I love to see how many people are thoroughly enjoying their own spiritual moment. I love to see their faces when the sing, dance and pray to God. I enjoy doing that too, but I also spent some of my time watching their faces and off course took some pictures. It was hard to keep my camera stable so I can take a clear shot because I did not bring my tripod. So I use the handrail as the tripod.

After singing and praying, Benny Hinn called people who wants to accept Jesus to come forward. I was amaze at how many people who wanted to accept Jesus as their savior! It took a while just to wait until they can come forward because they are just too many of them, and I believe there are more that wanted to accept Jesus but just do not have the chance to go to the front of the stage, like the people around me because our location is just too high up there.

I am also happy that my son able to enjoy his first experience of going to a crusade. He lift up his hands when others do that. He clap hands too, and he even said "Amen!" . So cute. Off course I came prepare with some snacks for him so in between "Amen", clapping his hands, and lift up his hands, he was busy snacking on some jellies and kit kat! When I asked him why is he so good that he can stand 4 hours there, his answer was " I want to see God's miracles , mama! "

Since my son was 4 yrs old, he already accept Jesus as his personal savior but on this occasion, when Benny Hinn asked people to repeat his prayer for accepting Jesus, Kai Kai also repeat those words as best as he can. I think that's just so sweet.

At the end, KK did see God's miracles. Many people who came with so many sickness were healed. He saw many people who came with wheelchairs were heal and they don't even need their wheechairs anymore. I paid attention to those people who came obviously sick, and who get healed. I saw a woman who has to be supported by her family to walk was healed and she dance on stage after that.

Even though we did not come to get healed, we were very comforted knowing that God is there.

Becoming An Unofficial Honeymoon Photographer

This past Sunday I got an early surprise phone call from my bestfriend's sister. Her name is Lena and my bestfriend's name is Wike. According to Lena, she is here right now in Vancouver with her husband for their honeymoon. They just got married last month. Since Wike and me has been bestfriend since kindergarden, I know Lena since she was very small too. Wike has been my school mate from kindergarden, secondary, high school, even University back in Oklahoma and my housemate too! We start our school together back in kindergarden and we graduate from University at the same day! Talk about a long history together! It's hard to find a friend like her in the whole world and I love her very much. So I was very happy to be able to see her sister with her husband in here. I have never met her husband, Jiang Jiang.

We met that night for dinner together. Lena also brought her friend's brother, Robert who drove them around the city the whole day. It was a pleasant surprise that we like Jiang Jiang very much, both me and Richard. We even like Robert too. Richard and Jiang Jiang are the same age. Both 34 yrs old. The dinner was great, not only because we had great food but we laugh so much! I am especially glad that I can tell how happy Lena is with her life right now and how good a match is Jiang Jiang for her. I love a happy ever after kind of story, don't you? And as you can expected, I brought my camera with me to dinner .... never leave home without it, haha!

When they saw my camera, Lena told me that Wike wants to make sure that Lena will asked me to take her to a garden to have a photo shoots! This is because the last time Wike came here to see me, I took so many nice pictures of her and her husband, Henry. Now Wike wants Lena to have a beautiful honeymoon photo albums too. What they do not expect is to find me to be 13 weeks pregnant!!!

Since I am pregnant, I can only took them the next day to one garden. So after a lovely dim sum together for our brunch, I brought them to Queen Elizabeth Park. The reason is this park is the best to see in summer because the color of the flowers are just so consentrate so I don't have to walk to much to find many great photo spots. VanDusen Botanical Garden is also nice but I think they don't have enough colors in summer. VanDusen is great in Spring and Fall.

So we took shot after shot of photos from Lena alone or both of them together. Actually they have never seen my works before, they only do what Wike told them to do which is to trust me. With Wike, I took her pictures in VanDusen because she came here in spring time. And since at that time I wasn't pregnant, I took her so other places too. So for both sisters, they will have different photo locations.

The weather was nice that day but soon it becomes too hot to walk around. I found out that it was harder for me to walk around without running out of breath when I am pregnant like this! But I believe my hardworks paid off nicely. I got some nice photos of them for show and tell! They did not know the result yet since they are going to the Rockies Mountains tour, but later when they return to Vancouver, I will give them the results. I hope they are happy with them.

Congratulations again to Lena and Jiang Jiang..... we are truly happy for you guys!
