A Baby, A Boy, and A Camera in A Garden

Richard suggested to me today to bring both La La and Kai Kai to VanDusen Garden because the weather is so nice. At first I said no because originally I want all of use to go there together to take a family picture and a family picture is not complete without Richard because he has to go to work. So instead, I took both kids to Lansdowne Mall, first to mail out our tax paperwork then to give Kai Kai a haircut. Also I want to see the kitchen store in there as well.

I love Ming Wo, at first I thought this store is so small, I don't think they can carry things that are rare or good quality. But lately, I have change my mind about this store. Every times I go there, I always found something unique, something new, good quality too. I found three tiered cake/food stand, it's 3 different size white square plates with silver stick in the middle that hold them upright. I love it! I have been collecting white serving dishes for the past 1 year. It started by buying the cheapest dish set from IKEA and progress from there. I tried to buy serving dishes that can be used inside the oven, so they are not only good looking but functional and strong as well. From chatting with the cashier, she told me that in the past one year, white serving plates/bowls is the most popular one because people notice that white plates makes the food pop out more and they are easy to be decorated with dots of raspberry sauce, or a small river of basil oil etc...That's also why I collected white plates and bowl from a year ago!

I also found a round spiral plate from my local grocery store that is not only can be placed inside the oven but it is also on sale for only $ 10! Very unique plate!

Anyway.... see, how easy I got distracted???

At the end, I changed my mind again, and I took both kids to VanDusen. It's been awhile since I went there because I have been on bed rest part of my pregnancy and it's just too darn cold to go there in the winter with a newborn baby!

I went there with an optimist heart that today I can take lots of pictures of me with La La. I brought a tripod with me too so all KK has to do is just press the button of the camera. He has done this before.

But by the time we arrived, the weather changed to cloudy, then I found out that most of the flowers on the trees are gone, then not all the rhododendron flowers are open yet, and then La La start to get cranky ( I think because she wants to be able to sleep quietly at home ). And at last is Kai Kai accidentally press one of the button and because of that the camera refused to focus in the middle, only on the right side of the picture and I couldn't change that because....well...I am too lazy to read the English version manual on my camera that my husband downloaded from internet. My camera's original manual is in Japanese. So that's it...I stayed there for only an hour and we pack everything and go home...

I forgot to mention that 2 weeks ago Kai Kai finally lost his tooth for the first time, he is so proud of it because that's mean he is a big boy. Now the tooth next to the missing one is also started to shake. I guess 2 more weeks it will fall off too.

VanDusen is getting ready for their plant sale event. I think they do this several times in a year to raise money. The plant sale event is this Sunday.

La La's Photo Shoot Result

Oh..finally...finally....I finally got the results from La La first photo shoots by Canadian Baby Photo.

Previously I mention about her photo shoot in my blog
  • "Photo Week"

  • So if you want to read the story go ahead read it.

Now I would like to share some of them with you ....

    Happy 3 Months Old Birthday

Happy 3 Months Old Birthday La La!

Now, she can laugh so loud when I bounce her up and down on my knees ...

She can hold her head and chest up when I put her facing down ...

She can drink 5 ounces of milk in one shot ...

She can sleep through the night from 8 till 6.30 in the morning ( hallelujah! ) ...

She start sucking her hands ...

She always looking at me where ever I move around in the room ...

She talk and cooing so much!

Her favorite words are "Oh..o!" and "Eh...eh..."

She is getting more attracted to her crib's toys ...

She likes to listen and watch when I read her books ...

She can sing with me ...

When ( rarely ) she is a bit cranky, distracting her is so easy. Just change her diaper or talk to her and she is a happy baby again ...

Her hair getting longer and for some reason they stick up in a funny way ...

When she saw me first thing in the morning, she always squeal happily ...

She loves me so much and I love her so very much ...

On the photo above, Kai Kai made her a bracelent for her second month birthday ...

And for her third month birthday, Kai Kai sew a seal doll for her ....yes, S-E-W. Isn't he amazing ??? It is made from a felt material and then stuffed with synthetic fiber.

    School's Garage Sale

Busy...busy...busy... The whole day we are very very busy. First thing to do in the morning I woke up at 7 because La La woke up and she needs to eat. Then I prepare breakfast for us before Kai Kai has to go to his Chinese school. Then when Richard returned home from the school, we get ready again to go to Kai Kai's Montessori School because today the school has it's annual garage sale. I donated a lot of our stuff there, all of them are nice stuff! Like Kai Kai's cool sledge that only been used 2 times. Some of his cool toys. 2 window fans, 2 humidifiers, etc. All of the profit will go to the school's year end party. We went there to see if they still need more hands but looks like they are doing fine.

From there, I stop by at the nearby grocery just to buy few things because I need to get ready to feed James who is going to stay with us for a sleep over.

Then.... we went to pick up Kai Kai from his Chinese school and go back home right away because I better start making dinner. Yes...dinner. Lately I have been experimenting with my slow cooker that I haven't use for over a year if not more. 2 days ago was a french beef stew, then yesterday was Italian's, today breakfast is Chinese porridge and today dinner is Mexican stew. Very international.

KK is so happy to have James sleep over in our home. They play and play and play non stop. It was hard to make them sit down and have their dinner. Actually it was pretty easy because they are old enough to play together nicely so we don't have to do anything except watching them when they want to play outside.

At 9, we sent them to bed and by 9.30 they both fast asleep. Too tired from all the playing today!

The only one who is not used to this new situation is La La. She has to try harder to fall asleep because of the noises that the 2 boys made! But like usual, she is so sweet and so easy going, so it only takes 5 more extra minutes to make her fall asleep. No big deal at all.

Tips of the week # 1 - How to remove potato skins with a twist

You can use this trick for lots of foods like tomatoes or peaches. Just be sure to score an entire line around the fruit or veggie before boiling, then drop into an ice bath afterwards.

    Our First Egg Hunt Party

My dear...dear friend, MaryAnn, blessed her heart, is so kind enough to throw an Easter Egg Hunt Party for us! Beside the party, she also invited Kai Kai to have his first sleep over in her house with James, Kai Kai's old classmate. Kai Kai has such a wonderful time there until he forgot all about us! They play and play. They took a bath together. They slept together. MaryAnn even took Kai Kai to a children show in Granville Island because she has an extra ticket ( her husband, Vince, couldn't go because he has to work on Easter Monday ). Kai Kai absolutely love the show too!

I tell you, this family is so... so... so super kind!

OK, on Sunday, first we went to our church minus Kai Kai off course because MaryAnn took him to her church. Just Richard, me and La La. La La is so sweet, even though she is not asleep, she can sit still and so quietly in her car seat for 1.5 hrs in the church! I still remember when Kai Kai was a baby, we couldn't hear the sermon until he is 1.5 years old because he always cried in the nursery room so we had to stay with him the whole time.

Then from the church we went to MaryAnn and Vince's home for the Egg Hunt Party. I brought a pound cake in the shape of a heart ( I am trying on my new cake pan! ) and then dust the cake with powder sugar and top it in the middle with macerated strawberries! Yum! They look so wonderful until I forgot to take the picture! I add strawberry essence on the cake beside the vanilla essence. Smell even yummier.

As I told you at my previous blog, instead of bringing 10 eggs, today I bring 74 eggs! I think I did the right thing. Those kids are having a blast because I bring so many eggs! They can collect eggs as many as they want.

KK definitely having the time of his life, running around, looking for eggs in MaryAnn's backyard. Those eggs are filled with toys and candies! Later those kids are busy stuffing their mouth with chocolate and candies, or trade their toys with other kids, or just enjoying their toys. I love to see them so happy!

We had a wonderfull lunch as well, because the food is just so plentifull!

The guests are all very nice and very friendly to us. Most of them has babies as well so we don't feel akward because we are all have children and babies! We talked about our children and our babies a lot.

We stayed there for over 4 hours and we enjoy every minute of it!

Thank you MaryAnn, Vince, James and Jessica Agregado! You guys have hearts of gold!
